The UEFA Nations League 2024-25 season will start on Thursday with 54 nations split into four separate leagues based on their international rankings.
All UEFA Nations League football matches will be available on live streaming and telecast in India.
Organised by UEFA, the Nations League was introduced in 2018 to replace friendly matches and make international games more competitive and meaningful for national teams in Europe.
The fourth edition of the UEFA Nations League has four leagues - A, B, C and D. While Leagues A, B and C will contain four groups of four nations each, League D will have two groups of three nations. Each nation will play twice against every other team in the group on a home-away basis.
The League A teams will compete for a spot in the UEFA Nations League final, slated to be held in June 2025. The top two nations from each group will advance to the double-legged quarter-finals and then onto the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Leagues B, C and D will clash against each other for promotion to a higher league. Losing will relegate them to a lower league.
Spain enter the 2024-25 season as the defending champions, having defeated the Netherlands on penalties in the 2022-23 edition. They also won the Euro 2024 earlier this year.
In the 2020-21 edition, Spain lost the title to France. Portugal are the inaugural champions of the UEFA Nations League, having lifted the trophy in 2018-19 by defeating Netherlands in the final.
Group 2 in the UEFA Nations League A is the most difficult group on paper as it contains France, Belgium and Italy - all in the top 10 in the FIFA rankings - alongside Israel.
